About Peak Airsports
Your Instructor
Mark Bosher is a Senior Instructor with the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA). He is also Chief Flying Instructor (CFI) of Peak Airsports.
Mark started parachuting in the late 80’s, then started his flying career in 1992. Mark has flown light Aircraft, Helicopters and Sailplanes (gliders) for five years. He has also flown paragliders and hang gliders in the Peak District for over eighteen years and is one of the most experienced and active pilots in his local club, (The Derbyshire Soaring Club). When 'not working', he is active with the local club as a committee member and is a Club Coach, helping others improve their flying skills and understanding of the sport that is 'free-flight'. With an intimate knowledge of the area’s geography and meteorology, Mark is out flying or training on any flyable day that is available (throughout the year). He is also an active pilot flying powered hang gliders and Para-motors (FLPA) and a BHPA qualified Senior Instructor for both hang gliding and paragliding (Hill and Tow). He is also a Tandem Pilot Instructor, licensed for both disciplines and (as far as he knows) does more Tandem flights in both disciplines than anyone else in the Peak Park (and possibly the UK)! Mark also runs paragliding and hang gliding trips and courses in France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Lanzarote and Morocco, (in the winter) but teaches mostly in the United Kingdom. He is one of the most qualified, experienced and knowledgeable instructors in the UK today, (why trust anyone else)?
Small Groups
Contact: The office or e-mail
At Peak Airsports, we limit ourselves to small groups of students. As far as we know, we are the only school in Britain that operates exclusively in this manner.
You might find other schools elsewhere that offer training 'more cheaply'? Please remember that the cheapest is seldom the best. You can also very easily find yourself in a large group of new students, waisting a lot of your time waiting for kit (and others to launch), until it is your turn to go. With Peak Airsports it is not uncommon to find students on their first day achieving more than ten flights! Peak Airsports believe that people expect 'professional quality training' and modern flying equipment for the money they have paid and this is what we strive to provide the students who train with one of the best schools in the UK, Peak Airsports!
No Time Wasting!
We have taken the decision to limit ourselves to a small number of bookings per year (around 30 or less). This alleviates tremendously the frustrations that trainees sometimes experience at 'other schools', when trying to book subsequent training days on a 'first-come first-served' basis. We are committed to making sure that the small number of trainees we accept each year are given every possible opportunity to complete their training and get booked in. We train 7 days a week (weather permitting) and Peak Airsports is a 'full time' school. This means students do not get pushed to the back of the bookings diary to make way for more new customers. We also operate a system were you are welcome to phone the day before for a place and / or we phone or text you in advance of a good training day and call you out! No other school actively does this and please remember that all schools are not the same:-(! I know of students in other schools (of a similar name) who have been training to fly for years, why!!!?
We use new and the most modern equipment!
All training equipment is modern or new and the training paragliders and hang gliders are some of the best on the market today. This means you are learning at a good progressive rate, compared to some of the old and warn-out training equipment some schools are still using? The harnesses have full back protection and again, are new or the latest type. Radios are used for good communication from the instructor to the trainee. Elementary training is carried out on the type of Harness, paraglider or hang glider you may purchase after leaving the school (not the so call twenty five year old 'training Stubby' Hang gliders and paragliders that would look better as 'old' car covers! Your life may well depend on what you fly, so don't settle for anything less than the best equipment and the best schools, that's what you've paid for, isn't it?
Video and Photo Analysis
We use digital photo and video at various stages on the training course to assess your technique. This is an invaluable method of analyzing technique or any problems, particularly with launching and landing and we are able to offer all pictures and video taken by use, 'free of charge', (just bring a memory stick with you), it's all part of the service you can expect from the professional team at Peak Airsports:-).
